Italy – Platform beaches

After Positano’s pebble beach, we decided to scout out the “beach” in Sorrento. Our hotel was by the sea and boasts of swimming facilities. But you will have noticed that there is no beach at all. Hotels have these platforms extending out from the bottom of the cliffs into the sea. We actually had to take a lift down before more steps to actually get onto these platforms with swimming facilities. What a far cry from the beaches of Australia but certainly something different. And there’s no worries about getting sand in your shoes.
